Talk:Licensed devices
From Wiki
Classically fonts were licensed, like other software, for use on specific devices. Usually this was a computer CPU, but it could have been a printer. Later came many variations, such as servers, multi-CPU computers, etc. Some licenses moved away from tying licenses to hardware and instead had the license follow the user(s). Site licenses and organization licenses followed. We've tried to include most of the possible permutations in this section.
The "Number of Devices" field holds the quantity of devices licensed by the EULA. The value can be a number or "unlimited".
The "Type of Device" field holds the designation of the type of device (or user) that is licensed by the EULA. There are numerous choices.
Note that fields in the Licensed Devices section are neither mandatory nor exclusive and that they can exist multiple times in one EULA. For instance, a typical EULA might be for a single user. The EEULAA for this license would have "1" in the "Number of Devices" field and "User" in the "Type of Device" field, but the Location field would be blank. A more complicated corporate license might allow use on 100 workstations at two sites. The EEULAA would have two instances of the Licensed Devices section. One would specify 100 users and the other would specify two sites.
